Episode 343 Gurkha Ghost Exorcist

Play

DESCRIPTION: After much anticipation, the new Gurkha Ghost started shipping to stores nationwide this Halloween! Gurkha president, Gary Hyams, had this to say about the Ghost: “We worked very closely with Abe Flores and the PDR Cigar Factory on blending this cigar and we experimented with many different types of tobacco.

Besides showcasing a dark Brazilian, Arapiraca Maduro wrapper, the Ghost is complemented by an aged Dominican Criollo 98’ binder and concludes with selected Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.

As usual, Gurkha’s packaging provides a prominent footprint and this one is no different. It uses a slick and artful packaging scheme of the tattoo culture that is so popular today. The Ghost band artwork features a detailed design, incorporating a unique holographic foil pattern, using state of the art printing techniques.

The Gurkha Ghost is available in 4 sizes and the cigar I’m featuring today is the 6-inch by 60 ring gauge Exorcist.

He wanted to use a blend of red grape varietals and introduce a premium wine at an exceptional value. According to the website, “With the current hard economic times for many people, Michael wanted to produce a wine that had all the elements of a fine wine without the costs usually associated with premium offerings.

Episode 341 Headley Grange Estupendo

Play

DESCRIPTION: Headley Grange is the third in a budding portfolio from Jon Huber and Mike Conder of the Crowned Heads cigar company. The Headley Grange takes its name from the music industry. Headley Grange is a former poorhouse in Headley, East Hampshire, in England that became a famed London Recording Studio. It is best known as a recording and rehearsal venue in the 1960s and 1970s for bands such as Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Peter Frampton and others.

A box of Headley Grange Estupendos

The inspiration for the Headley Grange cigar stemmed from the song “When the Levee Breaks” by Led Zeppelin. According to the Crowned Heads website, the idea was to create a cigar smoking experience that reflected the experience of listening to the heavy drumbeat at the beginning of that song. In a quote directly from the website it says, “The steady sound of John Bonham’s drums on that track are unforgettable: heavy, plodding, ominous, and thick.”

Episode 340 2012 NYC Tour Pt. 2

Play

DESCRIPTION: This week’s show will be more cigar-centric as I relate day 3 of my 2012 NYC tour. I will be sharing my daylong cigar outing with a friend of mine, Jimmie the Mum, who treated me to a first class look at a couple of great tobacconists and in the middle of that great exchange we managed to find a classic bar and restaurant in downtown just to be sure we had the full compliment of cigars, food and libations covered.

And, don’t forget that I’ll be airing part 2 of my eclectic interview with Ron Melendi of De La Concha.
