BACKGROUND: After launching 6 blends in 2013, the Black Label Trading Company wanted to bring a stronger, fuller bodied cigar to their line up. So, in March of 2014, Black Label Trading Company announced the release of Morphine, a Nicaraguan-crafted cigar that uses two maduro wrappers.
According to brand owner James Brown, the customers of Black Label Trading Compnay expect their smokes to be unique and out of the box when it comes to flavor profile. He stated that, “Morphine is exactly that.” He goes on to say that, “Everyone thought I was a little crazy when I explained the double wrapper idea, but combining the Ecuadorean maduro with the San Andrés wrapper elevated the cigar to a whole new level of richness and complexity.”
Morphine features a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper and an Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers and a Nicaraguan Habano binder.
Morphine comes in two sizes, a 7 x 38 Lancero and the cigar I’m featuring today, the 5.5-inch by 42 ring gauge, Corona.
