BACKGROUND: Caldwell Cigars are being made in the Dominican Republic. According to Robert Caldwell, “The Dominican Republic is one of those treasures that hides in plain sight. There is so much fantastic tobacco, so unique and with such distinct flavors.” The plan is for the brands to utilize premium tobaccos that are rare and unique.
The King is Dead uses a Dominican “Negrito” wrapper. The company described this offering as a “truly interesting cigar.” According to Caldwell, “Negrito is one of those wrappers that just doesn’t play well with others, but after a couple of months, the right matches were made.”
The King is Dead is offered in four sizes and the price point ranges from $7.00 to $12.00 per stick
