Episode 356 Juanito’s Cigarros 4-19 Torpedo

Play

BACKGROUND: This week’s featured cigar is appropriately named, the 4-19 and commemorates the date that Juan Carlos Jimenez and his sister were forced to flee Cuba in the face of Castro’s oppressive regime. The cigar is made in the Dominican Republic for Juanito’s Cigarros, a brand that Juan Carlos named after his father.

The cigar starts with filler tobaccos that include Honduran and Nicaraguan Habano, Dominican Olor, and Dominican Piloto Cubano. The filler blend is bound in a Dominican Olor binder and the cigar is finished with an Ecuadorian Shade grown Connecticut wrapper.

This week’s featured 4-19 by Juanito’s Cigarros is the beautiful 6-inch by 52 ring Torpedo.

FEATURED LIBATION: Flor de Caña 18-year Rum
This has been one of my favorites in the past along with Ron Zacapa. Flor de Caña is a Nicaraguan rum that has been produced since 1890 in Chichigalpa Nicaragua. It’s aged 18 years in used whisky and bourbon barrels. And, at 18-years is the oldest rum from Flor de Caña. Bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.
