The Chapter One project began with an experiment of creating a box-pressed Double Ligero Maduro Chisel, simply out of curiosity. That cigar became the prototype for the Chapter One. Doc explains the rest of the story.

Episode 451: La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II

Play

BACKGROUND: The chisel shape has been used on many different cigars in the La Flor portfolio throughout the years. In 2013, La Flor released a limited edition cigar called, Chapter One, a strong blend created by Tony Gomez, son of brand owner Litto. The cigar utilized La Flor Dominicana’s signature cap, the Chisel and contained tobaccos from Brazil, the Dominican Republic and U.S.

Tony returned in 2014 to release the Capitulo II, another limited edition release. The name Capitulo II is Spanish for “Chapter Two,” a moniker that purposely avoided confusion with the Casa Miranda Chapter Two. The Capitulo II cigar is a box-pressed chisel cigar that is sold in 10-count boxes and comes at a MSRP of $107.00/ box or $10.70 per stick. The blend uses Nicaraguan Colorado leaf for the wrapper, Ecuadorian Habano for the binder, and Dominican tobaccos in the filler.

This week’s featured stogie presents the 6 1/2″ by 58 ring gauge Capitulo II Chisel.

Episode 395 2014 Pro Cigar Festival Part 2

Play

BACKGROUND: Last week, I walked you through a pre-festival tour at Tabacalera Palma and our first festival tour at Tabacalera La Alianza. This week I continue the adventure with descriptions of my tours to Davidoff and La Flor Dominicana. Of course, I’ll also be recapping our Dominican nightlife with descriptions of dinners with our favorite cigar makers, “White Night” and the final festival party.

On hand once again to help me provide all the details of the event are Stogie Fresh team members John and Christina who shared in all the fun and lived to tell the story.

WHITE NIGHT: Everyone wore white as we celebrated at the Monumento a los Heroes de la Restauración (Monument to heroes of the Restoration War). The monument is located on a hill in the middle of Santiago, with spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains. It also has a surrounding park and it is an attractive place at night where people go to relax.
